Sophie Thun: New heroine of photo art conquers Salzburg!
The Otto Stracha Prize for photo art is going to talented Sophie Thun this year. As the Kleine Zeitung , the jury Thun's emancipatory approach, which in the tradition of pioneering western artists is sorted. The price, which has been awarded every two years since 1983, is intended to highlight the artistic performance of photo artists living in Austria. Thun, who was born in Germany in 1985 and grew up in Warsaw, lives and works in Vienna and Berlin today. She is currently a representative professor for photography at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Her works can currently be seen in the first major solo exhibition in the Museum of Modern Salzburg.
The Institute for Fine Art (IBK) of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna plays a central role in artistic training and research. With a variety of specialist areas and a focus on contemporary art practices, as explained in the explanations of the IBK, students receive extensive support from experienced artists and scientists. This innovative training ensures that the prospective artists not only develop technical knowledge, but also the ability to critically deal with current social issues.
