Scholz rejects Trump's Greenland threat: borders are salvation!
The tensions between Germany and the USA have reached a new climax after the designated US President Donald Trump has indicated that they wanted to acquire Greenland. The German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz has reached the right to Greenland in a decisive reaction and vehemently clarified: "The principle of the inviolability of borders applies to every country - whether it is in the east or in the West." Scholz spoke in Berlin and referred to Trump's statements that also triggered an international echo, as well as oe24.at reported.
European unity and clear positions
Scholz emphasized that he had exchanged information about the US statements with European colleagues and that a “certain lack of understanding” about current politics in the United States came to light. The French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has made a clear position and sharply criticized the right to Greenland, which belongs to Denmark under international law. Barrot made it clear: "The European Union will not allow other nations to attack their sovereign limits, whoever they are." Even if, according to BARROT's assessment, an assault by the United States is unlikely that the clear rejection of such claims is fundamental in order to protect the European unit, such as ZDF reported.
Trump's threat of acquiring the Panama Canal and Greenland and not excluding military actions, ensures concern and sharp reactions worldwide. Scholz emphasized that the dignity and sovereignty of every country must be observed, and this respect must be observed by both small and large nations. This makes Scholz significantly behind the position of the European countries and their defense of territorial integrity.
