New podcast: Discover Jewish life in Germany for young people!
In the pulsating metropolis of Berlin, a new podcast starts that illuminates the diversity and challenges of Jewish life in Germany. Beran Arukaslan, an 18-year-old high school graduate from the Jewish High School Moses Mendelssohn, born the idea of sharing his personal experiences and knowledge with a broader audience. Despite his Turkish-Muslim background, Beran has gained impressive insights into Jewish culture in recent years. His motivation for the Podcast "Jewish for Beginners" is clear: "If you know each other better, you get on better," he says and shows his commitment to intercultural dialogue.
The podcast is primarily aimed at young people and young adults and their parents. In seven episodes, each of which is around 30 minutes, Beran will speak to various personalities from the Jewish community in Germany. The aim is not only to address Jewish culture and history, but also to put clichés and prejudices to the test. Beran plans to visit his guests to their own places in order to leave the often sterile atmosphere of a sound studio behind and to give authentic insights into the Jewish attitude to life.
first episode and guests
The first episode of the podcast was published on October 4, the Jewish New Year. Yitzhak Ehrenberg, rabbi of the Jewish community in Berlin, is a guest in this sequence. In conversation, Rabbiner Ehrenberg gives exciting insights into his everyday life and how his profession is composed of his family life. Well -known personalities such as the musician Ben Solomo, the director of the Jewish Museum Berlin, Hetty Berg, as well as the photographer and entrepreneur Yoram Roth will also be heard in the coming consequences.
The production of the podcast is supported by the Quadriga University of Berlin, while the Berlin agency "Hell & Karrer" is on a voluntary basis for PR strategies. The series is produced by the Berlin podcast studio "Studio36". The idea is to invalidate prejudices through personal stories and to convey a feeling for the Jewish tradition and culture instead of drifting into general statistics and academic analyzes.
The podcast appears every Friday every two week and is available on various platforms such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Amazon Music. At a time when understanding between different cultures is of the greatest importance, “Jewish for beginners” is more than just a podcast; It is a step in the right direction to promote intercultural exchange and to sensitization for Jewish identity in Germany.
This podcast could give an impetus not only to listen, but to actively work on a better cooperation. It remains to be seen how the audience will react to this innovative concept
