New waste service in Hameln-Pyrmont: Alba takes over the yellow sacks!
The Alba Niedersachsen-Anhalt GmbH wins the tender for the collection of the yellow sacks in the Hameln-Pyrmont district. From January 2024, the company will be responsible for the removal of the recycling bags. In 2023, over 5,300 tons of light packaging made of plastic and metal were incurred in the district, which underlines the importance of this service.
Logistics and the envelope of the waste are organized from Barsinghausen. The aim is to ensure a smooth transition for consumers, especially with regard to the experiences six years ago, when moving to Remondis led to problems with the yellow sacks that have been left behind. The previous service provider Prezero had carried out the collection until the end of 2022, previously Tönsmeier was a subcontractor.
Details for new waste disposal
Alba is not only active in Germany, but also in other European countries and generates annual sales of around 1.3 billion euros. With 5,400 employees, the subsidiary is based in Braunschweig, while the main center is in Berlin. Four dark blue Alba trucks are available for the collection in Hameln-Pyrmont, each with two people and a reserve driver. The collective tours are already entered in the logistics software.
A total of 550 waste containers were supplied at 310 locations, including kindergartens, petrol stations and restaurants. The district council has also passed an application for the introduction of a yellow bin for private households, whereby a model test in 2026 is to be tested in an area to be determined. If you have any questions about the yellow sacks, the citizens can contact Alba directly.
In addition, Alba reported that from January 1, 2025, the collection of yellow recycling sacks in the Hameln-Pyrmont district will be extended to an annual volume of around 5000 tons. This order has a term of three years. The logistics and the envelope of the recycling materials remain in the hands of the organization in Barsinghausen, and around ten employees and reservists are ready to take on the task. The recycling of plastics and aluminum not only has ecological advantages, but also saves considerable amounts of energy and CO2 emissions compared to new production.
According to the information, disposal in the yellow sacks or via the yellow bin for households is free of charge, since it is financed by the packaging industry, which is an important relief for the citizens.
