Large renovation project at the Hohen-Loog-Haus: Roof and photovoltaics in focus!
The Palatinate Forest Association Hambach starts an extensive renovation project for the Hohen-Loog-Haus, which has its own electricity and water supply. This project includes the installation of a photovoltaic system (PV) with an output of 21 kilowatt peak (KWP) on the roof of the hut and was decided in April 2024 by the general meeting of the association. The total costs of the project amount to 157,000 euros, which is the largest individual investment in the local group. The district association Pfalz supports the project with 40,000 euros.
The Hohe-Loog-Haus is supplied with electricity and water from the Kaltenbrunner valley via lines that are more than 40 years old. Due to the high power consumption, especially for four cold stores, the project is important to install the photovoltaic system. 48 modules are planned for the PV system, and a battery memory with 26 kilowatt hours (kWh) should contribute to covering the electricity requirement in the sunny months. In addition, the roof is being renovated because the current bitumen track cover is over 50 years old and already has damaged areas.
