Kreuzberg journey through time: Historical postcard exhibition from October 10th!
In the FHXB Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Museum, the exhibition "From the time-a Kreuzberg post-card collection 1890-1945" will be presented from October 10, 2024. This unique collection of over 5,600 postcards, compiled by Peter Plewka, offers fascinating insights into the everyday history of Kreuzberg.
The exhibition mainly shows streets, squares, companies and everyday scenes in the historic district. These postcards convey a Kreuzberg that no longer exists in many places, after the destruction in World War II and the urban developments of the 1980s.
Visitors have the opportunity to explore the digitized collection interactively by looking for keywords, street names and periods. In addition to the physical exhibition, the museum also offers digital access to this fascinating collection.
The exhibition will be opened on October 10, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. by district mayor Clara Herrmann and can then be visited from October 11, 2024 to May 1, 2025 in the FHXB Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Museum on Adalbertstraße 95a in 10999 Berlin.
This impressive exhibition not only offers historical insights, but also encourages them to critically question the representations and to reflect on the social realities of that time. An absolute highlight for all those interested in history and lovers of Kreuzberg.
