Photographer from Berlin after severe allegations in Brazil left free

In a shattering case of alleged sexual abuse of minors in Rio de Janeiro, a 60-year-old man from Berlin-Friedrichshain has been released. The Berlin public prosecutor said that the urgent suspicion could not be confirmed, since the two girls affected are 14 years old and are therefore legally classified as young people. Originally, one had assumed that one of these girls was only 13 years old, which led to the arrest of the man, as the Tagesspiegel reported. This change in the age assessment led to the abolition of the arrest warrant, since the punishment for sexual abuse of young people is significantly lower.

The police investigation results show that the photographer, who presumably acted together with a 71-year-old accomplice from Brazil, was said to have been active between December 13, 2023 and February 26, 2024. According to reports, the girls were paid for sexual services, with around 100 Brazilian real, which corresponds to around 18 euros. There is a suspicion that the attacks were filmed and the alleged perpetrator passed on the videos to his 71-year complicity, which is already in custody in Brazil. The Brazilian investigation led to ensuring stressful material, which was forwarded to the German authorities via the Federal Criminal Police Office, as can be read in the analysis of NWB database

The 71-year-old suspect, who has lived in Brazil since 2000, is said to have contacted his contacts in the Favela's minor girls region. The public prosecutor now raises sensations for sexual abuse of young people against the arrested man and evaluates that in the event of a conviction with a fine or a prison sentence of up to five years. The investigation is currently underway, and the results are expected with high voltage.
