The subsequent Sunday, November 3., also promises an experience: At 12 p.m. a guided exhibition and a historic walk through the Luisenkirche on Gierkeplatz begins. After the fair, the cultural scientist Katja Baumeister and Thomas Wolfes, head of the viz, take the guests on a journey of discovery through the Dressel exhibition. This is followed by a fascinating tour of the historic Charlottenburg. These events are free of charge and accessible to everyone!
But who was this Johann Christian Gottfried Dressel? From 1778 until his death on October 16, 1824, Dressel was a pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Charlottenburg. He revolutionized the school system, introduced modern teaching methods and built a hospital for the needy. His tireless efforts left traces in the city that are still felt today. His diaries and chronicles provide insights into the development of the community and the city. Thanks to the support from the Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Companies as well as the Freundeskreis of the Luisenkirchen community, all of this is made possible.
