Berlin nightlife in danger: Are the clubs back with lower prices?
Berlin, Deutschland - Berlin, the pulsating capital of nightlife, faces a dramatic change! The legendary clubs, which have been attracting from all over the world since the 1990s, are fighting with falling number of visitors and exorbitant admission prices. If you want to treat yourself to an exciting evening in one of the techno temples, you often have to put more than 20 euros on the table. But could that change soon?
Dimitri Hegemann, the living legend and founder of the famous safe club, has spoken out! In an insightful interview with the "Tagesspiegel", he talks about the worrying situation of the Berlin clubs. "The guests are missing!" Squests Hegemann. Many night owls can or do not want to pay the high prices anymore. He suggests that some clubs may lower admission prices to revive the dance floors. "In Dortmund we tried this: free admission and the people came!"
club death or comeback?
The club death discourse is rejected by Hegemann! "There are still many people who want to celebrate in Berlin," he emphasizes. But the reality looks different: "This year we have 1,000 fewer guests a month." Even the famous Watergate in Kreuzberg has announced that it would close at the end of the year due to a lack of demand. Hegemann hopes that lower admission prices and higher drink prices could offer a solution. If the clubs regain the masses, the nightlife in Berlin could bloom again - if the bargain hunters are ready to dig deeper into their pockets for their drinks!
