Bayern Cup in the Hallenboccia: Weiden shows team spirit and strong performance!

In the Upper Palatinate City of Weiden, the Bayern Cup in the Hallenboccia recently took place, in which ten teams from northern Bavaria fought for the title. The event was organized by the Disabled and Vital Sports Association (BVS) Weiden in the newly renovated multi-purpose hall on the Langen Steg, a place that was used for the first time for such competitions. The tournament not only attracted local teams, but also showed how important the event is in disability sports.

The chairwoman of the BVS, Sabine Birner, opened the tournament with a warm greeting of the participating teams. Günter Herbolsheimer, the department head for Boccia and Pétanque in BVS Bayern, had taken over the organization of the competition. Originally, twelve teams were registered, but a team had to cancel due to an illness. This opened up the opportunity to start with an additional team.

The tournament began with the preliminary round in which the teams were divided into two groups. Weiden 1 was able to secure second place in her group with three wins and a defeat against VSV Straubing. The two Weiden teams made up of talented players: Weiden 1 consisted of Julia Hauer, Christoph Voit, Dominik Schraml and Karl Voit, while Weiden 2 was supported by Sieglinde Kleber, Hans Gilch, Wolfgang Hunsperger and Leon Forster.
