The risk of forest fire increases: Two missions in the Traunstein district on April 15th!

Rottau, Deutschland - On April 15, 2025, two vegetation fires in the Traunstein district occurred in Bavaria, triggered by the currently increased risk of forest fires. The German Weather Service has increased the danger level for the region to medium to high risk of forest fires, which is expected to last until the end of the week. These conditions, characterized by dry and windy weather, led to the growth of the surface. Fireworld reports that the fire brigade quickly reacted to the fires.

At 2 p.m., the Grabenstätt fire brigade was alerted to a fire in the reed belt of the Hirschauer Bay. The resulting fire had an area of around 150 square meters. Around 25 emergency services were able to control and extinguish it within about 30 minutes. An hour later, the Bernau fire brigade was alerted for another vegetation fire that had occurred near the Bernau correctional facility.

As it turned out, the fire took place in the Rottau municipality, whereupon the Rottau fire department was alerted. A total of almost 90 emergency services were ready to narrow down the fire from two sides. After about two and a half hours, the fire could be completely deleted. In order to ensure sufficient extinguishing water supply, a tanker pendulum traffic was set up, which transported water from a hydrant to the site. The emergency services checked the fire area of around 1,000 square meters with thermal imaging cameras for possible embers.

The police have taken up the facts of the fires. Stefan Kattari, the 1st Mayor of Grassau, was also present to get an idea of the situation.

Due to the increased risk of forest fires, the Traunstein district fire brigade association recommends avoiding grilling, fireplace and flaming for weed destruction. Smoking on meadow areas or in forest areas should also be avoided. When grilling, make sure you have a deletion, such as a bucket of water or a garden hose. It is also advised to inform the fire brigade, even if you think a fire has already been deleted.
