Ursula Sowa: Green policy for climate protection and social justice!

Ursula Sowa, member of the Greens, shared her views on politics and climate protection in an interview. She emphasizes that the CSU can be voted out and sees the need for a fundamental change in politics. Sowa, who works as an architect, recognizes the challenges of competition that tries to damage the image of the Greens, but sees a strong desire for change in society.

In their political commitment, Sowa expresses criticism of the spread of lies and gives the example of Martin Huber from the CSU. It attaches importance to a lively political discussion culture and is annoyed that people often do not listen. A central concern for her is the climate protection that she sees as essential for the future.

political challenges and personal views

currently Sowa deals with committee documents and is surprised that the building type E was unanimously decided in the building committee. Her biggest wish is peace for the world and it indicates that it is often annoyed by the standstill in politics.

She said that she likes to spend time with her grandchildren and enjoyed her favorite noise, the twittering of birds. In her everyday life she often uses her smartphone and has installed 40 apps on it.

In another context, Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) on Twitter emphasizes that Bavaria is "absolute top" in renewable energies. He announced that a "wind turbo with 1000 new wind turbines" is sought. However, only five new wind turbines were put into operation in Bavaria in the first half of 2023, which was criticized by the Green Group Chairman Ludwig Hartmann as an irresponsible energy policy.

A climate report from the Ministry of the Environment shows that Bavaria is behind the goal of reducing greenhouse emissions to 3.5 tons per capita by 2030. In 2019, emissions were 7.3 tons per capita, most recently the CO₂ emissions rose slightly. The Greens demand that the savings have to be tenfold to make Bavaria up to 2040.

CSU and Free Voters emphasize that Bavaria is a leader in hydropower, solar energy and geothermal energy in Germany. CSU General Secretary Martin Huber criticizes the Greens because they concentrate too strongly on wind turbines, while Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber (Free Voters) relies on the fact that a climate protection law and 150 measures have been decided since 2019 to improve the climate balance

The statements of Sowa and the discussion about climate policy show the challenges and different views within Bavarian politics, while the need for climate protection measures are still in the foreground.
