Regionalwerk Unterallgäu: Energy transition with citizen participation started!
In an important step towards promoting the energy transition in the region, the new regional work Unterallgäu GmbH officially signed the shareholder contract. After intensive preparations of one and a half years, 29 municipalities and the district are now involved in ensuring more independent energy supply. The future managing director Dietmar Schell emphasizes that added value in the region is a central goal. Initially, 17 photovoltaic and open space systems with a total output of 81 megawatts are planned, whereby ten systems (55 megawatts) are short of implementation, such as the Augsburger Allgemeine reported.
Discussions with the Bavarian State Forests about the construction of wind turbines are also planned to further promote the energy transition. Two farmers have already provided 2600 square meters of roof areas to support projects that are to be implemented in the region.
