Nine dream gardens in the Unterallgäu: Naturgarten seal of approval!

Zaiertshofen, Deutschland - In the district of Unterallgäu, a special award for natural gardens was awarded. Nine gardens were given the seal of approval "Bavaria blooms - natural garden", the gardens who are in harmony with nature. The ceremonial award took place on the Herballandhof Spaun in the Zaierthofen district and attracted numerous guests. The district association for horticulture and state care Unterallgäu e.V., which recognizes the outstanding performance of the garden owners, is responsible for the award.

district chairman Alwin Lichtensteiger emphasized the importance of the excellent gardens for promoting biodiversity. In order to obtain the seal of approval, the gardens must meet certain basic criteria. There must be an ecological diversity, with the use of chemical pesticides, synthetic fertilizers and peat prohibited. In addition, the gardens must also meet additional criteria, such as the design of extensive meadow areas or the creation of "wild corners", where there is hardly any care.

The excellent gardens in detail

The certification was carried out in close cooperation with the district consultancy for garden culture at the district office. Markus ORF, the district consultant, presented the individual gardens at the award ceremony, which are now awarded the seal of approval. Here are some remarkable gardens:

  • In the farm garden of Karla Sauter in Engelharz near Legau, many local perennials grow, framed by a small pond that offers habitat for different animals.
  • The garden of the family of Vequel-Westernach in Kronburg is characterized by an extensive flower meadow with old fruit trees and a natural stone wall.
  • in Kornhofen-Bad Grönenbach, Solawi runs vegetable cultivation, supported by its own compost cycle, while running ducks help to keep snails in chess.
  • The garden of Birgit and Bernd Holzmann in Unteregg is still young, but already presents an impressive biodiversity with local plants and vegetable cultivation.
  • in the garden of Tanja Hofmann in Heimenegg-Mindelheim impress a beautiful wild perennial hem and a hedge of deciduous trees and shrubs.
  • Thomas and Barbara Mesenburg from Ramingen have delimited their property with a tree hedge from local deciduous trees, while their house facade is covered with wine.
  • Markus Hartmann from Hawangen cultivated in his approximately 800 square meter home garden free growing shrubs along the hedge.
  • Franz and Petra Walser from Pleß have a two-divided garden: a utility garden with vegetable and herbal cultivation and a orchard, as well as another area for different insects.
  • at Margit Spaun's holiday herb courtyard in Zaierthofen-Kettershausen, berry bushes and old fruit trees also thrive in addition to vegetables.

The award of the gardens is an important step to strengthen the awareness of ecological garden maintenance in the region and shows how diverse and beautifully natural gardens can be.
