AGRI PV in the Traunstein district: Agriculture meets solar energy!

In the Traunstein district, groundbreaking developments are imminent! The first AGRI PV systems that combine agricultural use with energy generation should soon be created in the municipalities of Schnaitsee, Tittmoning, Tacherting, Pittenhart and overseas. These innovative facilities are the first of its kind in the region and promise a sustainable solution to the challenges of modern agriculture.

The Agri-Photovoltaic systems, for short AGRI PV, are supported by the Office for Food, Agriculture and Forestry Traunstein (AELF). Matthias Anzinger, department head for agriculture and alpine pastures, explains that there are two systems on the area of photovoltaic systems: the classic open space systems and the new AGRI PV systems. The latter must not exceed a basic area of a maximum of 25,000 square meters and must meet strict requirements of DIN Spec 91434 to ensure that agricultural production is still possible.

Caution of labels!

not everything that shines is gold! Anzinger warns of the so-called "label swindle", in which classic open space PV systems are incorrectly shown as AGRI PV. "It is not enough to let a few sheep or goats run under photovoltaic modules and then describe them as AGRI PV," he emphasizes. In order to be recognized as a real AGRI PV, a concept for permanent agricultural use must be presented. Otherwise, area consumption threatens without real agricultural use.

The AGRI PV systems could play a key role in the future of energy generation and agriculture. The Aelf Traunstein is ready to provide advice to interested farmers and ensure that the new facilities make sense both ecologically and economically. The time for sustainable innovations is now!
