In the region around Gerolzhofen it is bubbling! The focus is on five wind power areas, which were set in the Main-Rhön regional plan ten years ago and are now being tested. The mayors of the affected communities agree: there are many uncertainties, but also a lot of movement in the wind power projects. Where will the first wind turbines be in sight of Gerolzhofen in the coming years?

In the priority area WK 19, which affects the municipalities Donnersdorf, Grettstadt and Theres, there are rumors about property sales of wind power investors. Klaus Schenk, Mayor of Donnersdorf, remains vague: "There is a lot in the river." The municipalities are working on a joint pooling to appear closed to investors. But while Grettstadt has large areas, the private owners in Pusselsheim and Horhausen are outnumbered, which makes negotiations difficult.

in the WK 20 west of Traustadt, the Wiesbaden company ABO Energy is planning to build three wind turbines in the Vögnitz wind farm. The application for approval was submitted to the Schweinfurt district office in June 2023. The wind turbines should reach a height of 267 meters and could go into operation by 2027, with an annual electricity production of 42 million kilowatt hours - enough for 25,000 households!

in WK 61 between Lülsfeld and Gerolzhofen, there is resistance to the plans of ABO Energy, who want to build four wind turbines there. Residents fear negative effects and have announced that they will take legal action. Nevertheless, the investor has already concluded contracts with the property owners and plans to submit the application for approval in the first half of 2025. The wind farm could go into operation in 2028 and deliver 59 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually - enough for 35,000 people!
