Protect nature: District of Schweinfurt is looking for helping hands for nursing projects!

In the district of Schweinfurt it is bubbling! The landscape maintenance association district of Schweinfurt e.V. (LPV), under the direction of District Administrator Florian Töpper, has organized an important meeting in the House of Encounter in Bergrheinfeld. Here, managers and teams of the member communities gathered in order to exchange ideas about the urgently needed landscape maintenance. Mayor Ulrich Werner acted as a host and created an ideal framework for this important gathering.

The discussion focused on three decisive topics: the maintenance of hedges, the preservation of orchards and the natural care of streams and trenches. Vera Bellenhaus from the LPV underlined the urgency of these measures by warning: "Our agricultural landscape needs retreats for birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals and insects. The decline in field birds in the past 40 years has been alarming!" With the help of the LPV and various support programs, the municipalities are to be motivated to actively implement such projects to protect nature.

The focus is particularly on the orchards, which are considered valuable habitats. Thomas Papp-Váry, Managing Director of the LPV, emphasized: "Old fruit trees offer rare bird species such as the stone owl and the garden red-tailed ideal breeding places." Proper care can transform these meadows into real hotspots of biodiversity. Municipalities have the opportunity to either become active or get support from the LPV to get these valuable areas.

But here comes the big challenge: the LPV is urgently looking for helping hands! Farmers and private individuals who are interested in mowing meadows, the care of hedges or cutting orchard trees are welcome to get involved. Interested parties can report directly to the LPV - a great opportunity to actively stand up for nature!
