Powerful conversion: St. Anton is often awarded in Schweinfurt!

Schweinfurt, Deutschland - in Schweinfurt, a city in the heart of Germany, an important project has launched the change of the old church of St. Anton to a modern center. From 2018 to 2022, the church built in 1952 was rebuilt and transformed into the center "Casa Diversity", which now acts as a place of encounter for different communities. On October 15, 2024, three architectural prices for this remarkable redesign were awarded.

In the ceremony, which took place in the foyer of the center, the church nurse Ottmar Prell spoke to the guests and emphasized the important cooperation of everyone involved who made this conversion possible. Particularly noteworthy was the Bavarian monument conservation award in bronze, which is awarded for the preservation of listed buildings. Prell found that this prize is an appreciation of the project's innovation, which at a time when other award winners can look back on a centuries -old story, still creates its own, fresh identity.

The conversion as a social bright spot

architect Christian Brückner described the project as a "lighthouse project", which demonstrates the radiance of the church and the Caritas Association. He emphasized that the newly designed center had become known far beyond the city limits. "People and their different needs are the focus of this building," explained Brückner, who at the same time looks optimistic about the future and emphasizes how important it is to preserve cultural heritage for future generations.

The award ceremonies were carried out by an expert round, consisting of bum, deacon Joachim Werb, engineer Bernd Mittnacht and other reinforcements. The pricing plumages were revealed with great anticipation and now adorn the entrance area of the center.

The prices in detail

The conversion of the St. Anton complex was awarded several prestigious prices. This includes the Bavarian Monument Conservation Award, which describes how important the preservation of historical buildings is. In addition, the project received the Otto Borst Prize, which distinguishes excellent renovations, and enjoyed the "Best Architects Award" 2024, one of the most renowned awards in the architecture that recognizes the quality of design and execution.

A technical challenge during the redesign was to implement a 27 -ton glass window, which, as engineer Bernd Mittnacht noted, required enormous effort. These technical masterpieces are now visible from afar due to the new pricing plaques in the foyer.

SORYA Lippert, the second mayor of Schweinfurt, emphasized the importance of the center in today's society. "At a time when society becomes more and more various, a place like the Casa has to promote variety of values that are essential for peaceful coexistence," said Lippert.

Marion Hammer, the coordination manager of the "Casa Diversity", presented the concept of the center. The employees work at the interface of various living environments to promote diversity and reduce prejudices. The open architecture of the center enables flowing transitions and lively people to get in touch with each other.

In the background of this project, there are several institutions, including the St. Anton church foundation and the Caritas Association for the city and the district of Schweinfurt e. V., which work together in different social and visual approaches. These include daycare centers, schools, self -help groups and other initiatives to support helpful people in the region.
