Visitor record in the AWZ Schweinfurt: This is how bio -waste is really disposed of!
In the district of Schweinfurt, the Rothmühle Waste Management Center (AWZ) recently opened its doors to the public and aroused great interest. The AWZ has been playing a central role in waste disposal for the entire district for almost 40 years. The dome of the biogas plant, which has been setting a striking sign in the landscape for more than a decade, is particularly noticeable. The system is part of a organic waste fermentation and processing system that enables electricity, heat and high quality compost from organic waste.
The resident waste management experts were willing to assist visitors to answer questions about technology and the processes of organic waste treatment. This public inspection took place in October and was opened by the deputy district administrator Bettina Bärmann, who also welcomed the numerous present to the district administrator Florian Töpper and highly praised her interest. She also pointed out the pioneering role of the district, which was one of the first in Germany to introduce the biotonne.
large number of participants in the tours
About 140 visitors took part in the free tours that had different focuses. The participants had the opportunity to either visit the area of the bio -waste preparation or take a tour of the entire AWZ site. During the tours there was enough time for questions, which gave visitors to satisfy their curiosity and to learn more about the exploitation process. A central point of the satellite tours was also the correct use of the biotone in your own household. Here, those interested learned that organic waste should not be collected in plastic bags, not even in the supposedly bio -degradable variants, as they decompose too slowly. Instead, newspaper or special paper bags are suitable for correctly disposing of waste.
The initiative to bring the topics of waste separation and recycling closer to the citizens with such events is strongly funded by the waste management of the Schweinfurt district. The aim of these actions is to create transparency about waste recycling and to raise awareness of environmentally conscious action.
In summary, the great encouragement in the tours of the Rothmühle waste management center shows that the population has a high interest in sustainable issues and a responsible handling of resources. Thanks to the organizers and those responsible for the AWZ for the informative insights and promotion of environmental awareness in the region.
