Cold front brings snow and frost: Bavaria is preparing for winter!

- A dramatic change in the weather is imminent: cold front brings rain, wind and even fresh snow to Bavaria! The coming days will be anything but mild!

prepare yourself because the cold comes! Next week the Free State will be hit by a cold front that drastically sinks the temperatures. According to a meteorologist of the German Weather Service (DWD), the snow border will drop to 400 meters. That means: snow could also fall into deeper locations! After a cloudy autumn weekend, it will be windy, wet and frosty from Sunday. Commuters have to adjust to smooth roads, because the temperatures are up to -3 degrees!

The DWD particularly warns for the south of Bavaria, the Upper Palatinate and Upper Franconia of frost and slippery roads from Saturday evening to Sunday morning. The cheerful days are over! Instead, rains and strong gusts await us on Sunday that sweep over the summits. Already on Sunday evening it could snow in the mountains - a first sign of winter!

For winter sports fans there is reason to be happy: the cold front ensures fresh snow in the high areas, and skiing and sledding can soon be unpacked again in the Allgäu. In Franconia, snow showers are expected to the deep layers on Wednesday, while the maximum temperatures remain 2 to 3 degrees at frosty. The wet -cold weather will stop until Friday, with a blanket of snow probably only staying above 500 meters.
