Great progress: New school center combines Luitpold school and AKG!

Schulzentrum Mitte, Schwabach, Deutschland - A venerable institution is revived! The formerly orphaned vocational school building shines in new splendor after extensive renovation and will in future be used as an education campus from the Luitpold School and the Adam-Kraft-Gymnasium (AKG). Last Wednesday, on October 23, the official inauguration ceremony took place, at which the ministerial officer Dr. Gabriele Kuen praised the remarkable cooperation between the two schools. "I have never experienced such a constructive cooperation between primary school and high school!" She cheered.

a gigantic effort

Mayor Peter Reiss spoke of a "effort" to complete the project, which was shaped by numerous challenges such as pollutant loads and delivery bottlenecks due to the corona pandemic and the Ukraine crisis. But the result is impressive: over 12 million euros flowed into the comprehensive renovation, whereby the city can benefit from around 5 million euros in funding. All redesigned rooms offer modern comfort, including a cafeteria and numerous care and classrooms that even enable all-day offers. The two schools now have space for around 500 students, which represents a quantum leap in the quality of the learning environment.

a place for learning and community

For the two school management, Silke Blomeyer and Harald Pinzner, one thing is certain: this building is a profit for everyone. The architect Christoph Schmidt von BSS from Nuremberg is proud of the successful result and emphasizes the valuable outdoor facilities that invite students to play and move. Antje Döllinger, director of the state school office, describes it a powerful synthesis of how the new rooms create a perfect atmosphere for inclusion, joy and optimal lessons. So the former vocational school building becomes a living place of learning for the future!
