HERNER EV: After a 2-0 lead, Bitter 2: 9 in Tilburg collects!
Tilburg, Niederlande - The Herner EV suffered a devastating defeat against the Tilburg Trappers in the Oberliga North on Sunday, October 27, 2024. After the promising start with a 2-0 lead, the team in a dramatic game ended with 2: 9. The match started strongly for the Miners, who played without the injured Hugo Enock and Justus Meyl and the sick Samuel Eriksson. The goals of Lennart Schmitz and Oliver Ott brought early cheers, but the joy did not last long.
tilburg turns the game
The hosts from Tilburg did not allow themselves to be disturbed by the early deficit and equalized the game until the first break. The miners could not find their superiority in the following thirds. In the middle section, the trappers trapped the herners, who hardly got to set their own accents. Tilburg dominated the game and increased the lead to 9-2 until the end. In particular, the two import players Kobe Roth and Phillip Marinaccio proved to be a nightmare for the HEV defense and each scored three goals.
The trainer of the Herner EV, Dirk Schmitz, was disappointed after the game. At first he emphasized the positive initial phase, but soon he found critical words for the performance of his team: "After the 2-2, it looked like we were pulled the plug. We had no passion and we have to question that". He is now asking his players to ask themselves whether they are ready for the challenges of the Oberliga. The next test will be on Friday, November 1, 2024, when the HEV will travel to the KSW Icefighter Leipzig.
