Help in the Ostallgäu: Support seniors in everyday life!

In the Ostallgäu, support for the neighborhood aid of the German Red Cross (BRK) is urgently sought. Older people in particular, who often depend on help in everyday life, need support in everyday tasks. The requirements are diverse and range from simple errands to walks to dealing with modern technology such as cell phones and PCs.

"We offer the organizational framework and bring together the right people," emphasizes Annett Filser from the neighborhood aid of the BRK Ostallgäu. It is clear that volunteers are not left alone. Thorough preparation is guaranteed by training so that the helpers are well prepared for their tasks.

training and support for helping

Annett Filser makes it clear: "Nobody is thrown into the cold water." The training to the everyday companion not only deals with the common clinical pictures, but also the specific challenges in the household and dealing with the patients. The next start of training is scheduled for January 27, 2025 in Marktoberdorf and for March 10, 2025 in Kaufbeuren/Neugablonz. Interested parties can register at the email address specialist office@kvostallgaeu.brk.de or by phone at 08342 9669 43

The helpers not only receive tax-free allowance, but are also insured for accident and liability during their voluntary work. Annett Filser describes the advantages of this voluntary work: "According to the motto 'do good for you and others', you get to know many nice people who appreciate the help." This social exchange and the possibility of regularly participating in further training form an additional incentive to get involved in the neighborhood aid.

The Initiative for recruiting helpers is part of a broader movement that wants to ensure that people can enjoy the quality of life they earn with support. Anyone who thinks about getting involved with a handout for other people will encounter a valuable and fulfilling commitment that will benefit both the helpers and those in need of help.
