Nuremberg misses ascent: Paderborn wins with last minute goal!

A dramatic football game in the 2nd Bundesliga ended in a painful 3-2 defeat against SC Paderborn for the 1st FC Nürnberg. In a gripping duel that took place on Friday, the club missed the leap to second place in the table and had to give up in the last second. The goals fell in an exciting interplay: Danilo Soares (8th) and Stefanos Tzimas (50th) for Nuremberg, while Adriano Grimaldi (6th) and Raphael Obermair (55.) scored for Paderborn before Brackelmann scored the decisive goal in added time (90+6).

The SC Paderborn got off to a lightning start and surprised the Nuremberg defense in the 6th minute with a quick goal through Grimaldi. But the club could not be discouraged and immediately answered with a dream goal of Soares, who netted from 14 meters in the 8th minute. The game was characterized by intensive duels and numerous chances on both sides before Tzimas took the lead for Nuremberg in the second half with a beautiful lupfer (50).

Var drama and the last second

The joy of the lead did not last long. Just two minutes later, the Var decided on Paderborn penalty after Soares Bilbija fouled in the penalty area. Obermair safely converted to 2: 2. As a result, Paderborn pushed, and the Nuremberg had to act outnumbered after Grimaldi saw the red card for a foul (78.). Despite the majority, Nuremberg pushed for victory, but in the last minute of stoppage time the fate struck: a corner kick became a disaster for the Nuremberg when Brackelmann scored the winning goal. Coach Miroslav Klose was visibly affected after the game and spoke of a bitter end for his team.
