The goals fell in an exciting interplay: Danilo Soares (8th) and Stefanos Tzimas (50th) for Nuremberg, while Adriano Grimaldi (6th) and Raphael Obermair (55.) scored for Paderborn before Brackelmann scored the decisive goal in added time (90+6).

Coach Miroslav Klose was visibly affected after the game and spoke of a bitter end for his team.
