Nils Schmadtke becomes the new scouting boss at FC Bayern Munich!

FC Bayern Munich has a new face in his scouting department: Nils Schmadtke, son of the former goalkeeper and manager Jörg Schmadtke, will now work as a boss for the scouting team. This was officially confirmed by the German record champion, and Schmadtke will start its functions on Tuesday.

The 35-year-old Schmadtke's commitment is made after an agreement with the previous scouting manager Markus Pilawa has been achieved to end the collaboration. This decision is important because Bayern Munich is always looking for the best talents and a functioning scouting department for the long-term success of the association is essential.

career path from Nils Schmadtke

Before he moved to Bavaria, Schmadtke began his career as a scout in the 2016/17 season at 1. FC Köln. There he was able to gain valuable experience that was useful to him in his career. Later he moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach and also remained active there as a talent seeker. Through these activities, Schmadtke established himself in football and made important contacts, including Max Eberl, the sports director of Bavaria, which was also active at previous stations at Gladbach.

In the summer of 2020 he took over the management of the scouting department at VfL Wolfsburg before moving back to Borussia Mönchengladbach after two season as sports director. These different stations have prepared him well for his new challenge at Bavaria.

Christoph Freund, Sports Director of FC Bayern, was positive about Schmadtkes qualities: "Nils has already gained a lot of experience in professional football and has a great expertise in the field of scouting. We want to recognize potential players for FC Bayern as early as possible, Nils will play an important role here." Freund also referred to the need for close cooperation with FC Bayern Campus, where young talents are specifically promoted.

This strategic realignment underlines the ambitions of FC Bayern to continue to play a leading role in German football. Nils Schmadtke's commitment shows that the club is ready to bring fresh impulses into your talent visits and to set the course for a successful future. In particular, the expertise of such an experienced scouting should be crucial for the club in order to become aware of emerging players at an early stage.
