Neuburg: Tempo 30 zone in Zell is expanded to Am Kreut!

In an exciting meeting of the Transport Committee of the Neuburg city council, the concerns of the residents caused heated discussions. The focus was on the Tempo 30 zone in the Zell district, which was only introduced in April 2024. Some citizens now demanded the expansion of this speed limit to the streets "Am Kreut" and Rosinger Straße. The topic created shared opinions among the committee members.

CSU City Councilor Roland Habermeier criticized the visibility of the sign at the junction to the street "Am Kreut" and suggested positioning it better to increase security. However, traffic officer Bernhard Pfahler expressed concerns and described a change as unnecessary. The head of the regulatory office, Birgit Peter-Fest, warned of a possible complication of the traffic situation. But the Greens representative Nina Vogel, on the other hand, kept: "If the citizens wish for themselves, we should do it too." Ultimately, the majority voted for the expansion of the zone to "Am Kreut", while the application for Rosinger Straße was rejected, as this could affect the bus line.

Measurements show: Raser are hardly a problem

Another application to install additional floors at the upper and lower Brandl was also rejected. A comprehensive speed measurement showed that 85 percent of the vehicles contained the permissible maximum speed of 30 km/h. Mayor Bernhard Gmehling emphasized that these objective data often contradicts the subjective perceptions of the citizens. In this case, it was decided not to take any further measures on what citizens should surprise in their perception of traffic safety.
