Steam ride through Munich: Nikolaus presents small explorers!
Steam ride through Munich: Nikolaus presents small explorers!
A very special experience awaits the Munich team on the second weekend in Advent, because the historical steam locomotive of the Bavarian Railway Museum will drive through the Bavarian capital. The tours start on December 9th and 10th at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. from the Munich Ostbahnhof. The locomotive, which came from 1918 and was specially made in Munich, will jet through the city with a nostalgic train. During the trip, big and small travelers have the opportunity to enjoy the interaction of steam and nostalgic flair in the run-up to Christmas, such as tzmünchen reported.
A highlight for all children will be a visit to Santa Claus, which distributes gifts on the train. In the run -up to Christmas, around 5,500 kindergartens, a large number of young travelers are already expected, as the Bavarian Railway Museum reports. The tickets can be easily purchased at the train station or on the train, although a reservation is not necessary. Adults pay 20 euros, children between 5 and 14 years. In addition, a special encounter is expected on Sunday, December 10th, because on this day two steam trains run around Munich at the same time, which offers a rare spectacle, like the Bavarian railway museum emphasizes.
The journey will not only arouse nostalgic feelings, but also enter with questions about environmental impact on steam locomotives. The managing director of the museum, Patrick Zeitlmann, emphasizes that the CO2 emissions of these historical features are low compared to modern means of transport because they have a few days of operation. Nevertheless, climate protection remains a central topic, especially in the current time. However, despite the lack of snow, the trips promise to be a festive experience for the whole family.
