On the second weekend in Advent,Munich becomes the scene of a very special event - a trip with a historical steam locomotive. The Bavarian railway museum brings its nostalgic steam locomotive to the city from a unique viewing angle. The round trips start on December 9th and 10th at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. from the Munich Ostbahnhof and last about an hour. Santa Claus will also be on the train and deliver small gifts to the children. These trips not only enjoy children, the adults can also look forward to a nostalgic experience.

The steam locomotive, a true “Munich Kindl”, is the express train steam locomotive S3/6 3673, which was manufactured in Munich in 1918. On Saturday and Sunday, the use of two steam trains enables opposing encounters, which is a rare attraction today. Tickets can be purchased uncomplicated on site on the platform or on the train; A reservation is not necessary. Adults pay 20 euros, children between 5 and 14 years 12 euros, but only cash. Therefore, visitors should be at the train station in good time to find out more about the departure track.
The Bavarian railway museum has offered the tours over 25 years. Managing Director Patrick Zeitlmann reports that around 5,500 children will be enthusiastic about the kindergarten groups this week alone. Despite the beauty of these historical features, the environmental balance is always an issue because climate protectors criticize for high CO2 emissions. Nevertheless, Zeitlmann shows understanding for tradition: "Our influence on climate change is negligible due to the low use of the steam locomotives." If the locomotive leaves at the Ostbahnhof, it will certainly not only make the children's eyes shine.
