Meritative pastor Röschert: Farewell to a pastoral legend

The news of the death of Pastor i. R. Heinz Röschert moved the community deeply. He died at the age of 86 and leaves a great legacy of commitment and dedication in his pastoral care, which has affected numerous people for decades. Born in Schweinfurt in 1937, Röschert was ordained a priest in 1962 and began a remarkable career in the Catholic Church. He led his first tasks as a temporary priest in various communities before leaving in 1965 for further studies in Munich.

Particularly noteworthy is his work as a rain of the seminary from 1976 to 1983 and his role as a diocesan training officer for religious education. His work was not only limited to pastoral care; Röschert was also actively involved in theological adult education and was a member of the liturgical commission.

One of his formative offices was the parish office in Schweinfurt-Heilig Geist, which he held from 1983. In this role, he not only took care of the spiritual concerns of the community, but was also a key figure in the training of new priests. Röschert had a talent to inspire young spirits and prepared many for their later life in the service of the church.

His work also included pastoral care in the Schweinfurt correctional facility, where he worked until his move to Stockheim in 1999. In Stockheim and Ostheim/Rhön, he continued his mission with the same determination. Röschert was also active as a radio preacher at Bavarian Radio for many years and thus used modern media to carry his messages far beyond the church doors.

He spent the last years of life in Bad Neustadt, where he was able to withdraw after being in service of the community for so many years. The planned requiem and the burial with Bishop Dr. Franz Jung will be announced in the coming weeks. Röscherts particularly significant role as synodals during the joint synod of dioceses in the Federal Republic of Germany from 1971 to 1975 was also not to be called unmentioned.
