Laudenbach's future: Flood risk and new projects in focus!

Laudenbach's future: Flood risk and new projects in focus!

55 citizens gathered in the fire department of Laudenbach to find out the latest budget numbers. Fooler Sabine Geutner presented the positive developments in trade tax revenue, which amount to an impressive 1.2 million euros - a sudden increase compared to only 292,000 euros in 2020. The new lifting rates for property tax A and B were decided in September, both at 360 percent. This shows that the community is on a solid financial foundation.

Mayor Stefan Distler looked back on numerous projects, including the complete commissioning of the Karolusheim daycare center, which was renovated with 3.7 million euros. The conversion of street lighting to energy-efficient LED technology has also been successfully implemented. The construction site at the railway underpass was mastered well, despite the restrictions. A planned replacement for the ATM damaged during an explosion was rejected by the banks - too expensive and unprofitable!

flood scenarios and civic engagement

A explosive topic was the risk of heavy rain and floods. Mario Pani from the Steenken & Breitenbach engineering office presented a comprehensive study that serves as the basis for the protection of citizens. A 3-D model of the area was created with the latest technology to visualize potential dangers. Pani warned that the constrictions in the town center are particularly susceptible, while the distances of the houses to the stream offer certain protection. The citizens were asked to actively deal with the risk situation.

The discussion about noise protection measures also took off. Local residents on the north side asked the municipality to work for better noise protection. An expert opinion from the State Building Authority will be presented in the local council on December 10th. The citizens are concerned about the noise of the B 469, which can even be heard in the cemetery. There were also questions about the defective church clock and the poor condition of the street coverings. The municipality of Laudenbach currently has 1,553 inhabitants, with a debt of around 1.7 million euros.
