Volunteering at the end? Fire brigade Hausham and Agatharied are looking for reinforcements!

Hausham, Deutschland - in Hausham and Agatharied there is an urgent call to recruit new fire brigade members, since the staff ceiling of the volunteer fire departments has become dangerously thin. The commanders of the two fire brigades, Marcus Kober from Hausham and Josef Maier from Agatharied, have jointly decided to actively search for reinforcements. The mayor, Jens Zangenfeind, expressly supports this initiative.

The fire brigade Hausham currently counts 75 active members, while Agatharied has 65 people. These figures are not sufficient for a municipality with around 8,500 inhabitants. For this reason, the firefighters created an information flyer and distributed them to the Haushamer citizens. An information evening that will take place on November 5 should inform the population about the opportunities for help.

The way to recruit

Commandant Kober explains: "We have been based on the example of the fire department Weyarn, which also carried out a successful information evening. The tasks within the fire brigade are becoming more and more numerous, and we need more volunteers to be able to divide the work fairly." The two fire brigades are increasingly acting in the end of the shoulder because they face similar challenges. "The Agatharied fire brigade has the same problems, and together we can offer career changers better training," continued Kober.

The invitation to the information evening is aimed specifically at women and men between the ages of 25 and 50. According to the residents' office, around 3,200 flyers were sent to arouse interest in the fire brigade. "Above all, we are looking for people in the middle age who are in a stable situation," says Kober. He adds that young people are of course welcome, but sometimes have less time due to training and family obligations.

Kober has found that many citizens actually do not even know how they could get involved or that there is a need for new members. "It is important to spread this information and bring together interested citizens," he explains.

A point that the commanders also address is the increasing number of operations caused by more extreme weather events. "We are also affected by climate changes. Operations due to heavy rain or snow are noticeably increasing," reports Kober and emphasizes that the fire brigade often needs help from other fire brigades in the district. In the last heavy rain, for example, twenty basements have been completed, which required enormous effort.

What can the new members expect?

The information evening will give interested parties comprehensive insights into the work and training at the fire brigade. "We will present the basic training courses that consist of 120 hours and complete with a performance badge," says Kober. Topics such as the structure of the fire brigade, dealing with dangerous fabrics and special tactics are also on the agenda.

The fire brigade also not only needs fire briefs, but also a variety of other roles, such as drivers and machine operators. "Everyone has their tasks and everyone is important," explains Kober. The variety of tasks also offers opportunities for people with different skills and interests.

For everyone who wants to visit the information evening: It will take place on November 5 from 7:30 p.m. in the fire station in Hausham. If you cannot participate in this date, you have the option of finding further information on the fire brigades' website: ff-hausham.de and ffagatharied.de .
