Milk harvest in autumn: You will surely collect in the Spessart Forest!
The mushroom season continues for a short time, and if you venture into the forest now, you can use something to capture a delicious yield for the home kitchen! Klaus Bsonek, an 81-year-old scientist and experienced mushroom expert from Kleinostheim, warns urgently: "There are crucial rules that you have to consider!" This passionate mushroom collector, who shares his knowledge of mushrooms not only in lectures, but also in excursions, has set itself the task of protecting people from dangerous poisoning.
In the past few days, alarming reports on mushroom poisoning in North Rhine-Westphalia have made headlines. Four people, including children, landed in the intensive care unit after eating the highly contagious tuber mushroom and even needed a liver transplant. "Such cases are always a risk," explains Bsonek, who has already experienced numerous critical situations. A false mushroom can quickly become a fatal trap. "A woman would not have survived if she hadn't been taken to the hospital in time," recalls the expert.
The ultimate mushroom security list
How can you protect yourself as an insecure collector from dangerous mushrooms? BSONEK has clear advice: "Knowledge is the key!" First everyone should be able to identify the look and the characteristics of edible mushrooms. In addition, it is essential to consume only mushrooms in which you are absolutely safe. In the event of doubts, BSONEK recommends keeping the copies in question separately and showing them to an expert for assessment. "Apps to determine mushrooms can be misleading. A photo often does not say enough," warns the expert. In addition, you should never eat mushrooms raw - good roast is an absolute must!
The importance of mushrooms goes beyond the kitchen. "You play a crucial role in our ecosystem," explains Bonel. So that the habitat for these wonderful organisms is preserved, we should only collect the mushrooms that we need for consumption. "One kilo per person is the legal limit, more is illegal!", He adds and reminds that collecting these treasures is only allowed for self -consumption.
