Fire brigade legend Dietmar Reichert: 50 years for Kahl and security!
The fire brigade in Kahl am Main said goodbye to one of its most important members, Dietmar Reichert, as part of a solemn farewell. After almost five decades, tireless engagement for the security of the municipality is retired. His career began in the youth fire brigade when he gained his first experience at the age of 14. Only four years later he became an active member of the fire brigade and prepared for numerous challenges. In the course of his long service, a variety of training went through. From respiratory protection equipment to special courses in radiation protection to corresponding management seminars, he has developed into an expert. The Kahler fire brigade paid tribute to this with the words: "Dietmar Reichert devoted 50 years of his life to the service of the community for security in Kahl am Main." This statement underlines the extraordinary commitment that the 65-year-old has made over the years
introduction and leadership role
From 1984 to 1996, Reichert led the Kahl fire brigade as commander. After this time, he handed over responsibility to younger hands, but remained active until his departure in management positions, both as a group and as a train leader. He also distinguished himself as a district fire chief and was active beyond Kahl's borders in various functions.
Reichert's memories of numerous missions are alive. From the full fire of a shipping company to serious traffic accidents on the highway to fires at local schools - the missions were diverse and often challenging. These diverse experiences are reflected in his professional competence and his tireless will, even in dangerous situations.
An important part of his success was the support of his family. "Without the support of my wife and family, a lot would not have been possible," reflects Reichert. He emphasizes that many family dates often had to be postponed for unexpected missions. In many cases, his wife Christine was an indispensable support, be it in the care of the children or with the support of the emergency services, for example by cooking coffee.
Reichert also showed gratitude to his employer, the company Calpam in Alzenau, who always supported his voluntary work. In today's world, it is no longer a matter of course that firefighters are released during their missions, which emphasizes the appreciation of his activity.
technological changes and future
In the five decades that Reichert devoted to the fire brigade, not only the technology, but also the entire approach, has changed a lot. While in the past the focus was mainly on fire fighting, technical assistance is often in the foreground. This diversification of the operational events is partly due to technical progress, which makes the missions increasingly complex.
Although he is now officially retiring, Reichert will remain loyal to the fire brigade association and are involved in training events. In addition, he plans to stay in other honorary offices, among other things as a field jury and in his role in the Kahler municipal council. These multi-engagements show his unbroken will to make a contribution to the community even after his active service.
District fire council Frank Wissel made the appreciation of Reich when he said: "Dietmar Reichert was a mentor for me, who gave me many tips in my early days." He emphasized Reichert's passion and dedication to the fire brigade, which made him a respected and valued comrades in the community.
The last effort, just a few days before his official farewell to a major fire in Kleinostheim, is an impressive testimony to its commitment. "He was a firefighter with body and soul, as I hardly know any otherwise," summarizes Wissel and emphasizes how much the fire brigade in Kahl am Main benefited both humanly and professionally from Reichert's commitment.
