An unforgettable spectacle comes to Lohr: On Saturday, November 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the old town hall a lively homage to the deceased will be celebrated! The Volkshochschule (VHS) Lohr-Gemünden launched the Dia de Los Muertos for the first time in cooperation with the local Latino community-a festival full of colors, music and warm memories. The event will be considered a real highlight where the souls of the deceased are welcomed in a celebration of life.
mature preparations for this grandiose festival started in Mexico weeks ago. Traditionally, celebrations will be made on November 2 from the evening before All Saints' Day. The Latino community in Lohr is full of anticipation of presenting its culture in the region and giving insights into its traditions. Headmistress Susanne Duckstein emphasizes that this event is neither a Halloween greeting nor a scary celebration! Instead, the day is celebrated with lush food, traditional music and happy dances that remind the families of the loved ones.
colorful traditions and festive highlights
The program of the Dia de los Muertos promises a festival for all the senses! An impressive altar will be built in the old town hall from 10 a.m. Here visitors can admire Mexican handicrafts, while the Latino community serves a diverse range of Mexican dishes and drinks. From 4 p.m. there will be a spectacular move with Catrinas, festively decorated dead figures. "The weather has to play along, of course!", Smart Duckstein.
This great festival not only allows a look at the colorful Mexican culture, but also promotes integration within the community. The enthusiasm at the VHS to experience the Dia de los Muertos live shows how cultural diversity can be a reason to celebrate and learn! Do not miss this impressive event - a real festival of life, in honor of all deceased souls!
