Lindauer ice hockey team disappointed: 6-2 bankruptcy in Stuttgart!

The EV Lindau Islanders had a bitter setback on Friday evening during their away game against the Stuttgart EC in the ice hockey Oberliga Süd. With a result of 2: 6 (0: 1, 1: 4, 1: 1), the Islanders had to give up, whereby 630 spectators in the Eiswelt Stuttgart followed the game, including around 40 Lindau fans. This defeat means that the EVL fell fifth in the table from the third to fifth place.

The Stuttgart EC has changed significantly compared to the pre-season. With 18 departures and 14 new additions, the team has received significantly new impulses. In particular, Daniel Pronin, who came from SC Riessersee, was a great challenge for the Islanders.

Early setbacks for Lindau

Pronin caught the Lindauer cold in the first minute and after only 17 seconds scored the first goal of the game. Even if the Islanders had the opportunity to answer quickly - Adriano Carciola failed in the third minute in front of the goal. The experienced player could not show the desired consequence of what the opportunities for Lindau reduced.

The first third ended with a 1-0 for the hosts, but the Lindauer started with a deficit and outnumbered into the second third. Stuttgart took advantage of this opportunity-Viktor Buchner increased to 2-0 in the 21st minute, while EVL goalkeeper Dieter Geidl had little chance of warding off the puck.

After the deficit, the linders managed to reduce Jari Neugebauer to 2-1 in the 28th minute. With his assist, the veteran Steffen Tölzer ensured that Neugebauer could sink the puck in the goal. However, this momentum did not last long, since Samuel Mantsch and Julian Wäser expanded the lead to 4: 1 for Stuttgart up to the 35th minute.

A changeable game

Trainer Michael Baindl decided to change goalkeepers after several goals. Tommi Steffen came into play for the disappointing Geidl. In his first phase, Steffen was quickly put to the test when he had to ward off the great chance of Sofien Bräuner in the 40th minute, which earned him a few points.

Nevertheless, the appearance of the Lindauer showed many weaknesses, especially on the defensive. Throughout the game, the Islander's difficulties had to counter the necessary pressure to the Stuttgart, which meant that Nico Geidl, the cousin of the Lindau goalkeeper, was able to score another goal in the 45th minute.

Only too late the Lindauer Air and Jari Neugebauer scored at least some result cosmetics with his second goal in the 58th minute. But the game was already decided, and the Lindauer is facing an intensive next week after this defeat.

After this disappointing appearance, the Islanders now have no play on Sunday and will only have to compete against EV Füssen on Friday.
