MVV expansion 2025: A ticket for all of Upper Bavaria!

Landsberg am Lech, Deutschland - The Munich traffic and tariff network (MVV) takes a huge step forward! From January 1, 2025, the MVV area will be expanded to include the districts of Weilheim-Schongau and Landsberg am Lech. At an exciting presentation in Munich, MVV managing director Bernd Rosenbusch emphasized the enormous advantages of the new, uniform tariff system and timetable. A real gain for the region!

With the admission of the approximately 260,000 new residents, the MVV population grows to an impressive 3.7 million! This means that almost every third Bayer will live in the MVV area in the future. Commuters and leisure drivers can look forward to: real-time timetables and the use of MVV day and weekly tickets will make everyday life easier. Rosenbusch explained that passengers from Weilheim to Munich are much cheaper with the MVV day ticket than with the Bayern ticket. Where several tickets were necessary so far, one ticket will be sufficient in the future. Students can use the entire MVV room with the 365 euro ticket-a real advantage for the young generation!

advertising campaign and future extensions

In order to advertise the new destinations in the Weilheim and Landsberg counties, an advertising campaign is launched to attract day tourists from Munich. Although no additional bus lines or denser bars are planned at first, Rosenbusch expects a significant increase in passenger numbers and a swing for public transport. The anticipation for more switch from car to the MVV is noticeable!

But that's just the beginning! From January 1, 2025, the number of municipalities will increase to around 320, and the area of ​​the MVV area will grow to approx. 10,365 km². With the expansion, 57 new communities are added, and municipalities from the Augsburg and Aichach-Friedberg counties will also benefit. If everything goes well, even the districts of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Landshut could join the MVV. The preparations are already in full swing so that everything works smoothly from January 1, 2025 - from training for staff to adjustments to the ticket sales systems. The MVV is ready for the future!
