Cycle paths in the Kitzinger Land: urgent new signs required!

In the district of Kitzingen there is a dramatic standstill in cycle path signs! While the hiking trails shine, the bike paths look bleak. After over 20 years, the signage of the cycle paths is no longer up to date and urgently needs to be renewed. Simone Göbel, the responsible clerk in the district office, urged the need for a new signage in the district council and brought a shocking story from the administration.

The story begins with a promising support program of the Free State of Bavaria, which was launched in 2021. The “Bavarian cycling network” project was to create a continuous bicycle traffic network, but the hope of the counties was bitterly disappointed. The program has fallen asleep and soundlessly, and those responsible are now empty. The district councils are outraged: Christa Büttner of the Greens speaks of an "incredible approach of the state government", while Robert Finster from the SPD describes the whole thing as "miserable" and feels abandoned.

urgent need for action!

The consequences are serious: the district has lost around four years by waiting for a no longer existing program. Now only the hope for alternative funding remains, while 75,000 euros from their own funds are available for planning the new signposts. The exchanging of the signs could significantly burden the district's cash register if there is no promotion of 75 to 90 percent. The administration urgently warns: "We cannot waste more time!" Otherwise, the Kitzinger Land is at risk of loss of attractiveness, while other counties pass.
