First missions in Franconia: Ex-hurricane Kirk ensures chaos!

The ex-hurricane "Kirk" has already triggered the fire brigade in Bavaria. In the early morning hours, the fire brigade in Lower Franconia had to move out almost 50 times to remove fallen trees and traffic signs. Fortunately, no people were injured, which the situation relaxes a bit.

Especially the districts of Schweinfurt, Main-Spessart, Würzburg and Kitzingen were affected by the missions. In the Untermain, the situation remained calmer with only five missions, since the gusts in this area already subsided, as a spokesman for the Aschaffenburg control center reported. The emergency services felt well prepared to meet the challenges of the weather.

fallen trees and fallen signs

In Middle Franconia, warnings were made of falling trees and falling branches. The police reported eight missions in the early morning, including overturned trees and traffic signs that had fallen on the road. A remarkable incident occurred at the train station in Hersbruck in the Nuremberg region, where a tree fell on a parked vehicle, luckily without injured people. There was also an assignment in Dinkelsbühl in which a advertising sign was blown onto the state road.

In Upper Franconia, the police headquarters there reported similar incidents with fallen trees. The situation in Swabia was also shaped by the storm warning, which is why the Augsburg zoo remains closed for safety

rail traffic in Baden-Württemberg

As it turns out, the neighboring region of Baden-Württemberg had hit it far more heavily. Here the ex-hurricane not only led to numerous fire brigade operations, but also to impairments in rail traffic. The German Weather Service (DWD) continued to warn for Bavaria of stormy wind gusts until noon, especially in the high areas of the Alps, where even hurricane -like gusts from southern directions were expected.

From noon, however, the storm should be declined and replaced by rain shower and isolated thunderstorms, which last Friday until the night. The meteorologists announced that a cold front from northwest cooler sea air will bring to Bavaria behind the storm low. At the weekend there is more dry phases. Especially in the east of Bavaria, the sun could often shine on Saturday, while on Sunday temperatures of up to 18 degrees in the Alpine foothills are particularly possible in the afternoon.
