Security controls on the B299: Police raise the alarm!

The Bavarian police have set a strong sign against speed violations in an impressive commitment on the B299 between Landshut and Kelheim! From September 23 to November 3, 2024, intensive focus controls were carried out to combat the main cause of the accident. In 2023, the majority of fatal traffic accidents in Lower Bavaria were recorded on federal and country roads outside of closed towns. The police aimed to monitor traffic and to improve compliance with the traffic rules.

In these six weeks, checks were carried out daily in several places, both with classic flashes and with laser handmuffs. The results are alarming: a total of 565 minor violations and 641 serious violations were found, including 56 cases in which drivers were distracted by mobile phones. Despite the announcement of the controls, the complaint rate was 3.2 % striking compared to the previous year (1.5 %). But there is also good news: during the entire campaign there were no serious accidents on the monitored routes!

motorcycle control day and other measures

A special highlight was the motorcycle control day on October 12, 2024, in which specially trained civil servants were used. Around 60 motorcycles and numerous cars were checked. The balance sheet: 12 minor violations and five serious violations that led to the expiry of the operating license. Ephk Hubertus Seisenberger, head of VPI Landshut, emphasized the importance of clarifying and sensitizing road users for the dangers in road traffic. The police will continue to carry out controls on the B299 to raise awareness of speed violations and distractions.

The Bavarian police therefore remains vigilant and does everything they can to make the streets safer. Road users should adapt to increased controls and be aware of the possible consequences of their driving style!
