New addition Stephan Jahn: Löwen strengthen regional league with Bundesliga genes!
The SG SV 64/VT Zweibrücken got an old friend on board to reinforce her team. The back area player Stephan Jahn, who has been training as a "guest" for almost two years, celebrates his debut on the away game against HF Illtal on Sunday at 6 p.m. The arrival of this 25-year-old is seen by many as a significant step for the team.
Jahn, who previously played for the Bayern regional league VfL Günzburg, not only brings talent, but also a remarkable family tradition. His father, Rudi Jahn, played in the Bundesliga and a sporting career seems to be almost inevitable in her family. "When I was five, I was in the hall for the first time," says Jahn, who is currently studying medicine in Homburg.

The decision of Jahn to separate from his roots in Bavaria and change to Zweibrücken results from a practical consideration: The long trips to the games of his home club could no longer be reconciled with his studies. "That was the logical step for me. I just feel welcome here and can identify with the club," he explains. This decision was not without consideration; Jahn had long conversations with coach Klaus Peter Weinert, who gave him the last kick -off.
Those responsible for SG Zweibrücken appreciate Jahn's knowledge of the team and the game system, which significantly shortens the familiarization phase. Weinert sees him a valuable enrichment: "Stephan can be used in both the left and right back and also brings defense strength." His goal is clear: "I want to take responsibility and show 100 percent commitment," says Jahn determined.
The Zweibrück team is in seventh place after four match days, and Jahn strives to enable the team "a good role" this season. In the long term, he has even secured a contract for three years to play in the 3rd league. "Starting with a derby is of course great. I'm very happy," he says enthusiastically.
The team won confidence after a last week against HSG Rhein-Nahe Bingen, which can also be found in the atmosphere before the upcoming derby. Tom Grieser, the SG circuit runner, noted that the clear will and the stabilized speed game contributed significantly to success. "We always had an answer ready when Bingen came closer," said Grieser.
The HF Illtal, on the other hand, has to deal with challenges this season. The team of coach Mirko Pesic is only one point in the penultimate place in the table and suffered painful departures. Max Mees, who shone as the best field scorer last season, ended his career, and goalkeeper Alexander Dörr also left the club.
Despite these problems, Grieser is warned: "It is always difficult to play in Eppelborn. We must never underestimate them," he had found before the emerging encounter. Illtal has overrun the favorite TV Homburg in the Saarland Cup last week with a remarkable performance.
With a solid mix of ambition and team spirit, the Zweibrücker, led by their newcomer, could go into the derby that will attract all eyes. The fans can hope for an exciting match in which the use and determination of both teams will prove themselves. For more information, www.saarbruecker-zeitung.de comprehensive reporting.
