Future of Elmo secured: Mobile parent accompaniment remains one year!

In the district of Freising, the innovative parents' support project "Elmo" is facing a decisive turn! Before the recent meeting of the youth welfare committee, the future of the popular offer was uncertain, but now there is hope: The committee urges 92,000 euros to provide in the district budget for the coming year. This sum is currently not planned, which is why the approval of the district council is required. An exciting struggle for the financial support begins!

Since 2021 there has been a concept in the Freising district with up to seven family support points that are operated by various providers. In Moosburg, a new base will soon be opened in the Caritas rooms. But there are delays in Neufahrn: The neighborhood aid there has sued the decision of the youth welfare committee, which means that no steps to implement the family base may be taken. A real stop for the plans!

"Elmo" remains alive for now!

The district education unit submitted an application in July to convert "Elmo" to a mobile family base that is supposed to cover the entire district - from Gammelsdorf to Fahrzhausen. The advantages are clear: flexibility, large reach and no need for fixed rooms. In the northern district, especially in the northern district, the offer that is traveling with a striking red bus is excellently accepted. The managing director of the district education center, Marina Freudenstein, and the administration emphasize how important it is not to simply let "Elmo" die. District Administrator Helmut Petz (FW) was infected by the convincing arguments and supports the continuation of the project. "Elmo" will continue for another year before deciding on the future. A ray of hope for many parents in the district!
