Bavaria is ready for winter: 400,000 tons of salt!

Dingolfing, Deutschland - Winter service in Bavaria: Ready for the icy challenge!

Winter is just around the corner, and Bavaria's Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter gives the all -clear: "We are well equipped!" With an impressive amount of 400,000 tons of salt and 880 vehicles, the roadmasters across Bavaria are ready to keep the streets safe. Over 2,000 committed employees are ready to ensure traffic even in adverse weather conditions. "The safety of road users has a top priority for us," said Bernreiter. Thanks to the independent supply from German salt deposits, there are no delivery problems - winter can come!

Innovative methods for more security

Last winter, almost 56 million euros were invested in the safety of winter road traffic, including 15 million euros for road salt alone. In order to protect the environment, winter service relies on innovative approaches: moistened road salt and liquid brine are used to minimize salt consumption and optimize the road conditions. "As much as necessary, as little as possible" is the motto. In addition, there is a preventive action against smoothness to avoid accidents.

A special highlight is cooperation with Developer Senf & Feinkost GmbH in Lower Bavaria. Here the salt water that arises during cucumber production is prepared and used for winter service. "The project is a complete success," emphasizes Bernreiter. Every year 100 tons of salt and 800,000 liters of water are saved. The state construction administration therefore remains not only innovative, but also environmentally conscious.

Overall, the 64 roadmasters in Bavaria look after an impressive network of 20,000 kilometers of federal and state roads. The employees make an indispensable contribution to security and mobility in winter. "I ask for consideration and respect for all employees in winter service," appeals Bernreiter. With these measures, Bavaria is well prepared for the challenges of winter!
