Change at the top: Therme Erding gets a new, strong owner!
The Erding thermal baths, a popular recreational destination in Bavaria, have a new owner. Jörg Wund, who founded the thermal spa together with his late father Josef Wund, sold the company to the international group “Therme Group”. This was confirmed on Monday afternoon by Erding's mayor Maximilian Gotz. No information was given about the purchase price, but the change of ownership is significant news, especially after the thermal baths celebrated its 25th anniversary a few months ago, as reported in a report by sueddeutsche.de was detained.
Expectations of the new owner
After the sale, Mayor Gotz is relieved because the “Therme Group” has already included the city in the negotiations and is bringing new ideas that are of great importance for the necessary further development of the thermal baths. However, the thermal spa, which set a record with 1.9 million visitors last year and offers a total area of 180,000 square meters with numerous pools, saunas and slides, is in need of investment and renovation, as Gotz reported in an interview with BR. Collaboration with the previous owner was not always unproblematic, especially with regard to construction projects. The change of ownership could therefore represent a turning point in the development of the thermal baths, which have been in operation since 1999 br.de.
