A gripping duel in the football Bavaria league ended with a painful defeat for TSV Karlburg on Saturday afternoon. In the home foundation of sports park, the bottom of the lead had to give up 1: 4 (1: 2) to the new league leader VfB Eichstätt, despite a promising start.

The first 30 minutes clearly belonged to the Karlburgers, who, after their recent 3-2 victory in Genbach, went into play with a remarkable body language. Supported by goalkeeper coach Martin Spanheimer, who represented the sick head coach Markus Köhler, the home side showed a lot of self -confidence. After a free kick, it was the imposed central defender Marvin Schramm, who sank the ball on the net in the 15th minute and had the fans cheered - 1-0 for Karlburg!

The turning point: a decisive goal

But luck did not last long. In the 36th minute, Adrian Winter lost the ball in his own half, which Nik Leipold used ice cold to 1-1. This goal hit the plug to the Karlburgers. "After that we no longer got into the duels," said assistant coach Sebastian Fries. The Eichstätter crowded and scored the 1-2 in added time before the break by Daniel Hofrichter. After the half -time break, nothing could be seen of the initial strength of the Karlburger. Eichstätt dominated the action and hardly allowed the home team's dangerous actions. Lucas Schraufstetter laced a double pack (61., 65.) and made the final score of 1: 4.

"You have to admit that Eichstätt has an incredibly strong team," Fries analyzed the game. But the TSV does not give up! Next Saturday, November 9th, the derby will be against the Würzburg FV. Hope rests on the return of offensive man Paul Karle and the conviction that the Karlburgers can show a strong performance this time for more than just 30 minutes.
