Marktoberdorfer Straße, 86956 Schongau, Deutschland - The former Obi property in the vest of Schongau has a new owner and is currently being planned. Mayor Falk Sluyterman announced various developments for the area on Marktoberdorfer Straße. The hardware store had closed at the end of 2022 and since then there have only been smaller intermediate uses on the site. In the past there have been rumors about possible interested parties such as Kaufland, Dehner-Gartenmarkt and Hagebau-Baumarkt as well as a climbing garden.
The new owner is very interested in a timely development of the property. Details on the plans were not presented in the construction committee. The buyer is experienced in project development, planned, among other things, a commercial settlement, while residential development is assessed as difficult due to noise protection requirements. A new development of the property is also considered because the existing underpass is currently being used.

The plans of Marktoberdorfer Straße in 2025 are to be included in the development of the commercial company. The land use planning for the area should begin soon and is expected to include an area of 2.5 hectares. Edeka also shows interest in modern buildings on the commercial area, but is covered with regard to specific plans.

The OBI property was originally intended for Kaufland, but which had given up its plans for a consumer market. The area of the Obi area comprises over 8,000 square meters.
