Housing benefit in the Donau-Ries district: record numbers and falling amounts!
The development of the residential gear in the Donau-Ries district is remarkable. From the end of 2022 to the end of 2023, the number of households that rely on this financial grant rose by impressive 79 percent. This significant change is directly attributed to the residential reform, which was implemented at the beginning of last year. Andrea Fackler, team leader in the district office, presented the current figures in the social committee of the district council.
On September 20, 2024, 1,225 households were registered in the district and the housing benefit was received. The monthly cut per budget is currently 256 euros. This is a decline compared to the 308 euros that were paid the year before. District Administrator Stefan Rößle said that this reduction was partly due to the increased income in the region. Higher pensions, wages and an increase in the minimum maintenance have led to this decline.
Personnel savings in the administration
Despite the strong increase in the romans, the administration is efficient. The expected need for clerks was smaller, so that three instead of the originally planned five full -time positions are required. Andrea Fackler stated that around three million euros in housing benefit in the district will be paid out in the current year. Every two years, the services are adapted to price and rental development to ensure that the support meets the needs of the recipients.
The housing benefit is mainly aimed at people with low incomes. The federal government and the federal states each bear 50 percent of the cost of this financial support. The responsible district authority is responsible for the application and ensures that all persons who are dependent on housing benefit receive the necessary information and assistance.
In addition, a decision was also made in the committee to promote the specialist office for nursing members of the Diakonie Donau-Ries from January 1, 2025 with 24,990.65 euros. This is considered an important support for affected relatives.Intercultural events in focus
Andreas Fischer, Head of Social Affairs in the district office, also reported on the action day as part of the intercultural weeks. The entire program met with great interest among the population. Fischer particularly emphasized the recruitment of new volunteers who want to get involved in the areas of integration in the future. Such initiatives are crucial for strengthening social cohesion in the region.
