Nördlingen: Young people demand more leisure activities and ideas!
In Nördlingen was great, but the response was disappointing! Under the motto "Your city, your ideas", the Jugend project advisory board, supported by the municipal youth work and the Catholic youth welfare of Nordschwaben, invited to the youth forum in the Möhle-Stadel. Despite intensive advertising in schools and social networks, only ten young people came to present their ideas for urban design. However, youth social worker Nina Thorwart and Mayor David Wittner were determined to motivate the few present. "Three times 5000 euros are available here to realize your ideas!" Emphasized Wittner.
The event offered the young people the opportunity to express their wishes and suggestions for improvement. Ideas were collected at four themed boards: from an indoor playground in the old indoor pool to e-roller charging stations to smaller concerts with unknown bands. Nine girls and a boy brought their creative suggestions while the city representatives listened carefully. Wittner admitted that many of the wishes expressed already existed, but some ideas such as pump tracks or escape rooms, go beyond the financial possibilities of the city.
A pop-up youth café for Nördlingen?
The idea of a pop-up youth café that could be installed in empty shops was particularly exciting. This suggestion was very well received by the young people and could be an innovative solution for leisure activities in Nördlingen. During a break, the participants strengthened themselves with pizza and drinks, and the moderators proposed to further concretize the collected ideas in order to optimally use the available funds. The event may have been weakly attended, but the passion and creativity of those present gave hope for a lively youth culture in Nördlingen.
