Diana Wader surprises as a European champion in equestrian sports!

In the area of equestrian sports, the discipline "Working Equitation" produces new dimensions. This rather young sport demands both skill and teamwork, and recently Diana Wader, a talented amateur rider, was successful in the Czech Oboriste. After only five years in sports, she chose European champion and achieved remarkable achievements with her horse "Toni".

Diana Wader, a 39-year-old graduate economist from Monheim, even surprised herself with her outstanding performance. While most of their colleagues from 13 countries are professional riders, Wader runs riding as a hobby, which makes their success all the more remarkable. "Participation in the European Championship was a unique experience," said the rider.

medal for Germany

The European Championship in Oboriste was not only an opportunity for Wader to show their skills, but also a platform to get on the podium with the German team. At this championship, Wader and her teammates secured the bronze medal in dressage, while she won gold in the royal discipline, the beef work. These successes are all the more remarkable when you consider that Wader as an amateur does not enjoy any professional training.

Although the competition was strong, Wader and "Toni" managed to achieve third place in dressage despite the challenges. "I was a bit of bad luck," said Wader about her blog. Originally, she was supposed to appear as the third participant in the German team, but the draw was the first to put her in the saddle. Nevertheless, she mastered this stress and pulled the necessary energy from the situation.

Also in the discipline "beef work", where teamwork is of central importance, the German Equipe managed to successfully success. With their impressive, separating Waders and their team cattle from the herd and ensured a sensational gold medal by winning two points ahead of Portugal. "I would never have thought that possible," said Wader enthusiastically.

special challenges and teamwork

Diana Wader was trained by her trainer Nicola Danner in the Weilheim Reitzentrum "Monte da Lua". But especially before the European Championship, the rider faced special challenges. The guidelines state that coaches are allowed to act as a judge at the same time and therefore wader could not train at Danner in the period before the championship. This regulation was a considerable effort because it had to switch to the training with other trainers.

"That was already brutal," said Wader about the circumstances. Nevertheless, she stubbornly held her training to stay in shape. "Elaborate but solvable," she added, which shows how committed she pursues her passion.

When the team arrived in Oboriste, the preparations and intensive training were not for nothing. Even if the German participants took fourth place in the first disciplines such as "Stil-Trail" and "Speed Trail", the gold medal in the beef thesis remained a highlight of this championship. "You really need teamwork and trust," emphasized Wader, which underlines the seriousness and use of the riders.

Overall, the European Championship was an impressive return for Wader, who took a 15-year riding break in her youth before she returned to the saddle with "Toni" in 2019. "Working Equitation" revolutionized her riding style and enables her to quickly establish herself in the national squad. She played tournaments in Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Poland and Germany and is now on the way to the 2026 World Cup in Jerez, Spain.

Wader plans to further expand their first experiences in this unique discipline. "I want to continue to celebrate success with my heart horse, 'Toni'," she says. The connection between Wader and their Lusitano wallpaper is inseparable, and together they experienced many exciting moments in this young sport.

"Working Equitation" itself has historical roots in the traditional work riding methods of southern Europe, but the modernization and reach of this sport attract more and more lovers and talents. In the foreground are not only the skill on the horse and the trust between horse and rider, but also the handling of different obstacles and tasks. The activities range from dressage to beef thesis and put both the skills of the horse and the rider on the test.

The total results of the event are on the official results, with an impressive fourth place for Germany in the overall ranking. The participants are already looking forward to the next challenges and hope to be able to come up with detailed reports about their progress soon.
