Tank fraudsters in court: one year and three months in prison for benzindiehle

A strange case of tank fraud is currently causing a sensation in the Freising district. A 25-year-old Pole, who stolen petrol of petrol stations together with his accomplice, now has to go to prison for his actions. The thief was recently convicted of the district court and showed Kleinlaut during the negotiation.

The perpetrator's procedure was simple, but well thought out: with stolen license plates and a small arsenal of utensils, they made their way to various petrol stations. There were only a few materials: benzinkanister and a pump to illegally tap the fuel. Judge Sandra Brenner noticed at the session that such a quick profit attracts the perpetrators.

The nasty machinations

The charges against the accused were serious. He was accused of being actively involved in the benevolence in several cases, including fraud and forgery of documents. In the period from spring 2022, he and his accomplices victed numerous petrol stations in the districts of Freising, Landshut and Dingolfing-Landau. In a total of 50 cases that the criminal police were able to determine, the damage incurred was estimated at over 1,700 euros.

Once, on April 22, he appeared with a complicity at a petrol station in Rottenburg a.d. Laaber. Here they fueled a Ford Fiesta with diesel for over 224 euros and took several canisters with them before they disappeared without paying. These brazen incidents were found not only in Rottenburg, but also in other cities such as Moosburg and Hallbergmoos.

Food of food as a further pass

In addition to the petrol steels, the defendant was also accused of the theft of food in a Supermarket Landshut. There he had stolen goods worth almost 69 euros, while a side cutter was ready in his sports bag - a tool that could be used for an attack. The public prosecutor regarded this as a serious violation, since it appeared that the accused was prepared for a possible attack.

The defense completely admitted the charges regarding tank fraud. The accused showed remorse, and his defender Jürgen Neumaier explained that his client had a job as an electrician at that time and that the tools randomly.

Despite his positive social forecast from the perspective of his defender, who pointed out that the defendant had no criminal record and lived with his family in Germany, the punishment was not mild. The public prosecutor demanded an unconditional imprisonment of two years, while Neumaier applied for a suspended sentence.

The court ultimately decided to condemn the defendant for a prison sentence of one year and three months. The judge said that the prison system was necessary to maintain the trust of the population into the rule of law, especially with regard to the massive thefts of petrol. Such criminal machinations make it clear how people can proceed in order to enrich themselves by fraud and to endanger the security of the community.

This case highlights the challenges with which the police and the courts are faced with the fight against such types of crime. The court's decision is a sharp signal that such behavior does not remain without consequences and that the rule of law must become active in such cases.
