With the first groundbreaking ceremony, the construction of a new nursing school was heralded in Wertingen, which is a significant step in improving training in the nursing industry. This initiative of the district clinics Dillingen-Wertingen gGmbH is intended to counteract the increasing shortage of skilled workers in the healthcare system.The nursing offspring is urgently required because qualified staff is essential for a functional health system. "With our new nursing school, we want to inspire young people in a contemporary manner for nursing training and at the same time counteract the shortage of skilled workers," explains Sonja Greschner, managing director of the Dillingen-Wertingen district clinics. The new building will significantly improve the training conditions for future nursing staff.

The planned building will include an impressive area of over 600 square meters and will extend over two floors. District Administrator Markus Müller, the chairman of the district clinics, emphasizes that trainees will have modern classes and practice rooms as well as a state-of-the-art skills Lab. In this facility, special care situations can be simulated realistically in order to enable the young specialists to provide practical training.
The construction costs for this project amount to around 3.14 million euros. Of these, 2.17 million euros are provided by the hospital structural assistant II, the Bavarian School Finance Act and the city of Wertingen. The goal is to complete the new nursing school until the training year 2026 in order to start the youngsters' training at an early stage.
